Calculator 1 of 9

💧 Plant Water Calculator

Estimate how much water your bed, pot or row needs each week based on plant type, weather and recent rainfall.

How this works

Most vegetables need about 1 inch of water per week from rain or irrigation. This tool starts from your plant's typical water need (low / medium / high), adjusts for weather and growing method, then subtracts any rain you've already had.

Tip: water deeply and less often rather than a little every day — it encourages deeper, more resilient roots.

📅 Harvest Date Calculator

Find your estimated harvest window from a planting date and days-to-maturity.

Reading days-to-maturity

Seed packets list "days to maturity" from either the direct-sow date or, for transplants, the date it goes into the garden — check which one your packet uses. This estimate is a guide; real harvest dates shift with weather, soil temperature and variety.

🌱 Seed Germination Calculator

Estimate the sprouting window for your seeds and track germination progress.

If seeds haven't sprouted yet

Keep soil consistently moist (not soggy) and check that soil temperature matches the plant's preference — cold soil is the most common cause of slow or failed germination. If you're well past the maximum window, it's usually safe to resow.

🧪 Fertilizer Calculator

Work out how much fertilizer product to apply based on its N-P-K ratio and your bed size.

Reading the bag

The three numbers on a fertilizer bag (e.g. 10-10-10) are the percentage of Nitrogen, Phosphorus (P₂O₅) and Potassium (K₂O) by weight. Most vegetable gardens do well with roughly 1–3 lbs of actual nitrogen per 1,000 sq ft per season, split across two or three feedings — heavy feeders like tomatoes and corn lean toward the higher end.

📦 Raised Bed Planner

Calculate the soil volume you'll need to fill a raised bed.

Soil mix tip

A common raised-bed mix is roughly 60% topsoil, 30% compost and 10% aeration material (perlite, coarse sand, or aged bark fines). Fill 1–2 inches below the rim so mulch and water stay put.

📏 Garden Area Calculator

Calculate square footage for rectangular, circular or triangular garden plots.

Why area matters

Knowing your exact square footage makes every other calculation more accurate — from fertilizer amounts to how many plants you can fit at proper spacing.

❄️ Frost Date Calculator

Turn your local average frost dates into a growing season length and key planting windows.

Don't know your dates? Search "[your city] average frost dates" or check your local extension office — this tool doesn't look them up automatically.

Using this safely

These are averages, not guarantees — a late or early frost can still happen. Cold-hardy crops (peas, lettuce, brassicas) tolerate light frost; tender crops (tomatoes, peppers, squash) should go out only after your last frost date has safely passed.
